Perce, QC     Sat, 9/14      84168-84501 (333 mi) Weather started out nice, so I got my stuff dry, but it turned overcast and cold for most of the day. I was determined to get at least halfway around Gaspe anyway, so I headed out. Beautiful, uneventful ride through Cambellton, then on around Gaspe to Perce. Rode with two Harleys with a man and his daughter and his wife, and they recommended I stay in Perce. By the time I got there, the rain was threatening again, so after first checking out a hostel and a campground, I negotiated a good rate at a hotel where I made myself some dinner and watched Ozzy Osborne on TV. Ste Anne des Mont, QC     Sun, 9/15      84501-84674 (173 mi) The weather was still not cooperating - it was raining when I woke up so I waited until about 1:00 before heading out. Gaspe seemed like a nice town, but since the weather sucked, I skipped the park and kept going around the peninsula. The northern part has lots of beautiful little town, all with their big catholic church. Got to Ste Anne des Mont fairly cold and tired, so the tourist info pointed me to a nice B&B attached to a nice Pub. Talked to Jim from New York and Chantal St. Pierre from town for a while. Started to head up to the Gite at the park, but it was getting dark, so I turned back. Went back to the Pub for a while, and then got a lift from Israel, the bartender, over to the other bar in town, where we met Chantal again and some of her friends. Ste Anne des Mont, QC     Mon, 9/16      84674-84730 (56 mi) The weather was still not cooperating. I made it up to the park and had a nice lunch before heading back to town. Then it started to really pour, so I went back to the Pub/B&B to wait it out, and ended up staying another night. |
