The ferry ride to Vancouver Island along the inland passage was beautiful. We met up with some nice people from Germany, so I got to practice my German for most of the ride. Darryl and I actuall got off the ferry (at 7:30 in the evening, in the rain) and paddled a canoe across the straits (about 3 miles) and met up with the ferry again. When we got to Port Hardy the next day, we were greeted by Pierre and Steve (who were reluctant to take the dirt roads to Bella Coola with us)! We all rode down to Victoria (meeting Darryl's cousin Vern along the way, where we had a very nice stay on the beach.
