Mt. St. Helens

Darryl decided to stick with me for a little longer into the U.S. (not in his original plan so he could see Mt. Ranier and Mt. St. Helens. We stopped off to see Mona (a high-school classmate of mine) near Seattle, then headed on to camp on the far side of Mt. Ranier. The next day was the most spectacular ride of the trip, beautifully twisting, newly paved roads through the forest (at high speed, of course) and up to Mt. St. Helens. What a vivid reminder of the power of nature! Met up with a guy on a BMW who chased us all the way to the Columbia River (again at high speed, of course). Good thing he didn't have his siren, because we found out later that he was a cop!
