Leggett    7/6     67554-67803 (249 mi.)

Took off at about 9:30 and got lost (!) on the way back to the motorcycle shop for extra fuses. Headed on to Petaluma and the Lagunitas Brewery, where they gave me a free pint glass and growler fill. Ate lunch at Dempsey's Brew Pub before heading up the coast for a beautiful, if somewhat cold, ride. Had dinner at North Coast Brewing in Fort Bragg, then began looking for a campsite. Between Rockport and Leggett I took a curb too steeply and broke my kickstand (and the cut-off switch). By the time I had it re-wired (about an hour later) it was getting dark, so I camped just outside Leggett.

Crescent City    7/7     67803-67985 (182 mi.)

Pacific Coast Up and out about 9:30. Beautiful ride up 101 through the redwoods. Began brewery tour in earnest with Eel River in Fortuna, North Coast in Eureka, Humbolt in Arcata, and Six Rivers in McKinnleyville. Pacific Coast Kept going up the coast - nice ride but overcast and cold. Started raining near Crescent City (damaging my journal) so I got a hotel (after determining that Jackson State Brewing had closed down 4 months earlier). Pacific Coast Ate a good mexican meal at Torreros (where I struck up a conversation with a guy I later found out to be the town cop - I suspect he was checking me out).

Newport    7/8     67985-68218 (233 mi.)

The weather was better when I got up - out about 11:00 (nice to have a bed!). Headed up the coast for a nice breakfast in Gold Beach. Missed the Bandon Brewery but had a nice afternoon in the Bank Brewery in Coos Bay. Kept working my way north (passed up Tillicum Beach Campground) until I got to South Beach Campground within a couple of miles of Newport. Took a great walk down the beach and had a nice conversation with Marvin (who was also relegated to the overflow lot).

Redmond    7/9     68212-68469 (251 mi.)

The weather was finally beautiful when I got up (somewhat late - I had to use earplugs to drown out the fog horns all night). Took it easy and made my way to the Rogue Brewery for a nice lunch. Decided to keep going to the Lighthouse Brewery in Lincoln City. Finally began heading east again, but couldn't find any breweries in Salem, so I kept going to Bend. Beautiful ride through the trees and mountains. Got to Deschutes and Bend Breweries fairly late, but kept going to Redmond anyway. Got to the 7th St. Brew Pub about 9:00 (sunset), an hour after closing, but they gave me a free pint glass and traded my Telluride growler for a full one anyway. A very nice little pub to end the Brewery Tours! Spooky camp across from the airport.

Idaho City    7/10     68469-68844 (375 mi.)

Camp Whoop-em-up Camp Whoop-em-up Got out of there quick and had a GREAT riding day through the mountains on 26. Breakfast in Prineville, saw the bear in Mitchell, Campfireand took a short break in Ontario. On through Boise and up 21 to Idaho City. Very nice reservoir and "Rim Ranches" along the way. Camped alone at "Whoop-em-up", a horse trail area (I believe). Finally built my first campfire of the trip. Lasted until 2:00 am.
